The FUTURE of Merrylands East Presbyterian Church starts at Pre-school and Sunday school…they are our future leaders!

Sunday School is one of the most important part of our church, were the build up of the love of our Lord Jesus Christ and the spread of the GOOD NEWS starts. All the Young adults in the English Speaking congregation were once attending Sunday School, this is where the strong foundation began… Classes were really small back then and a handful of teachers were playing their role.

Sunday School has grown in many aspect since back then… Young adults that were in Sunday school many years ago are now teachers and passing on the GOOD NEWS to the younger children. This connection between the children and the young adults is one of the many unique things that happen at our church, it allows the church to grow as a FAMILY.

Sunday School children are engaged in every activity that is always pre-prepared for them by their teachers. They enjoy their fellowship together and they help each other learn in an enjoyable way. The children are always having fun in the class and are learning at the same time. With activities, colouring, acting, instruments and many more things the fellowship and the spread of the GOOD NEWS enters the hearts of the young children. Many times throughout the year the children are taken out on an outing to a park and have their fellowship together through games and activities.

At the end of the year the church holds a “Children’s Day” where the children are engaged in acting and singing, presenting a summary of what they have learnt throughout the year. The children enjoy the day of fellowship and they are presented with certificates and presents as they move into a new year. The year six children also are presented with a special certificate as they move from Sunday school to the youth group. This is always the most memorable part of the year as we see our young children grow and become leaders in Christ.
